PRSA Symposium 2026
Geopolitical Risk in a New World (Dis)Order

Vienna, Austria — 9–10 July 2026

The Political Risk Studies Association (PRSA) is pleased to invite submissions for its first in-person symposium, to be held in Vienna on 9/10 July, 2026.

The PRSA promotes networking and scientific exchange among researchers, students, companies, consultants, and all individuals interested in political risk analysis and management. The Association maintains a digital space for open conversation, dissemination of research, and discussion on political risk, providing updates on seminars, workshops, and publications relevant to the field.

This symposium will bring together scholars and practitioners working on political risk across political science, international relations, sociology, business, and management and other related fields. Researchers at any career stage and professionals working in political risk, geopolitical analysis, or corporate risk management are especially encouraged to participate.

Format of contributions

The symposium will feature individual presentations. Full papers are not required; however, graduate students or participants wishing to receive feedback on written work may optionally submit a paper.

How to participate

Use this link to submit contribution proposals (max 250 words) on any aspect of (geo)political risk analysis, including but not limited to:

  • geopolitical risk and global fragmentation

  • business strategy in high-risk environments

  • forecasting and strategic foresight

  • political violence, instability, and conflict

  • regulatory and policy uncertainty

  • climate, energy, and technology risks

  • methodological approaches to political risk 

  • political risk consulting and corporate practice


Deadlines

Proposal submission deadline: 21 February 2026
Notification of acceptance: early March 2026
Registration deadline: 1 April 2026

Participation in the PRSA Symposium requires payment of a registration fee, which includes coffee breaks, a social dinner, and conference materials.

Early-bird registration (until 1 April 2026): €100

Standard registration (after 1 April 2026): €125

PAST EVENTS

The PRSA End of the Year Webinar took place on 4 December, from 6:00–7:00 PM CET (12:00–1:00 PM EST). The event featured an online conversation focused on one central question: What were the biggest political risk issues in 2025?



On October 30, 2025, Cecilia Emma Sottilotta (Unistrapg, PRSA member) and Julian Campisi (Unitoronto, PRSA member, introduced by Adib Bencherif (Université de Sherbrooke, PRSA member), presented the collective volume The Routledge Handbook of Political Risk at the first LIRIC (Laboratoire interdisciplinaire sur les risques et les crises, Université de Sherbrooke) seminar of Fall 2025.

PRSA members Adib Bencherif (Université de Sherbrooke) Manfredi Valeriani (LUISS Guido Carli), Adriano Cozzolino (Università della Campania Vanvitelli), Roberto Paura (Italian Institute for the Future), Andrea Novellis (University L'Orientale, Naples) and Cecilia Emma Sottilotta (University for Foreigners of Perugia) took part in the SISP Conference in Naples (4-6 september 2025), participating in the panel “Future Studies Meet Political Risk Analysis: Issues and Challenges Between Disruption and Change.”

On 2 July 2025, PRSA members Carlos Cruz Fuente and Cecilia Emma Sottilotta took part in a seminar organized by the Centro de Estudios Internacionales (CEIUC) at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The event featured CEIUC Director Jorge Sahd and was moderated by Diego Rojas, the center’s Research Coordinator.

Four members of PRSA took part in a panel at the online conference “Frontiers of Politics: Transforming Democracies in the Digital Communication Age” on 20 June 2025.
